Description: Radar Release 2020-01-16 patched CVE-2019-16769, CVE-2019-19919
Status: Resolved
Impact: None | Started At: Jan. 17, 2020, 12:12 a.m.
Description: # Radar Interruption of Service for 25 Minutes September 10, 2019 ## Summary of problem Due to an internal SSL certification expiration, [https://app.radarfirst.com](https://app.radarfirst.com) was effectively unavailable for approximately 25 minutes. The API services at [https://api.radarfirst.com](https://api.radarfirst.com) however were unaffected. ### Ticket * DEVOPS-898 ## Investigation At 8:56am Pacific Time \(PT\), we were alerted of a SSL certificate expiration error that affected communication between Radar and internal application services. At 9:10am PT we identified the certificate that was causing the error and the underlying issue, and began remediation. The certificate was updated and work was completed at 9:21am PT and the Radar application was back up and servicing requests successfully. ## Root Cause Although there is monitoring and alerting \(prior to expiration\) of our external public facing SSL certificates, there was one internal certificate that was not being monitored for expiration proactively. ## Resolution The expired internal SSL certification has been successfully updated and deployed. We are adding additional monitoring and alerting to identify and prevent future certificate expirations.
