Description: **INCIDENT REPORT** Date of Issue : 22/08/2023 – 23:43 CEST Date of Resolution : 23/08/2023 – 09:30 CEST 1\. Issue On Tuesday 23/08 around 23:43, we encountered network issues on the firewall of our Paris datacenter. This issue prevented external connection to applications hosted in this datacenter, namely the ENV-3 instance of the Actito platform, and the ATMP module. 2\. Impact The direct impacts of the issue were that: * Starting around 23:44, ATMP was unavailable. * Both the interface and the API could not be reached. * Starting around 23:48, the Actito platform for ENV-3 was unavailable from all external sources * Connection to the portal was impossible and returned an error 500. * The API could not be reached and calls fell in error. * Depositing files on FTPS, or fetching files from FTPS was impossible, resulting in synchronization failures. * All processes within Actito itself, such as segmentation calculation, scenario triggers, … worked as expected. * E-mail traffic was not impacted as it uses its own dedicated network. Pixel tracking for openings and link redirections for clicks tracking were however not processed. 3\. Resolution * On 22/08 around 23:43, an internet interface linked to the public VLAN of the main firewall of our Paris server experienced a failure. * Our analysis determined that the firewall serviced had switched to the secondary instance as failover, but only for the impacted interface instead of the whole firewall. * This resulted in a split of the traffic and a dead end, resulting that all connections between ENV-3 and external systems became impossible. * The first investigation determined that connection to the system was impossible on our side, preventing any remote intervention and forcing us to intervene physically in the data center. * Devops teams were sent to the data center early morning on 23/08 and were able to force a full switch to the secondary instance, restoring the traffic around 09:30. * The firewall configuration has been updated to avoid partial switches in the future. * In addition, we are implementing measures to allow us to intervene remotely in such cases. * In error synchronizations that required immediate relaunch were processed in coordination with our Application Care team. Other synchronizations and exports could be processed in the next execution.
