Description: This incident has been resolved.
Status: Resolved
Impact: Critical | Started At: Dec. 7, 2022, 2:24 a.m.
Description: **What Occurred?** On November 29th from 3:28pm ET until 5:28pm ET the CyberGrants application was unable to process Credit Card transactions through one of the two credit card processing vendors. The behavior manifested itself as a decline to end users who were unable to process credit card donations. **Why Did This Occur \(Root Cause\)?** A volume based security measure was raised with our credit card processing vendor due to a spike in daily volume. The control had to be manually removed by the vendor. **How Will CyberGrants Prevent Further Occurrences?** Enhanced monitoring will be implemented in CyberGrants to detect when thresholds are approaching and when they have been exceeded to allow adequate time to remove false-positive security measures with our credit card processing vendor before customers are impacted.

Description: ## **Root Cause Analysis** ### What Occurred? At approximately 4:30 PM Eastern on August 16 the CyberGrants application experienced a performance issue, affecting all users. Web page performance recovered at 6:00 PM Eastern. ### Why Did This Occur \(Root Cause\)? Since June 29 we have been operating our web and application servers in Amazon Web Services. During a high usage period, one resource supporting all web pages slowed down, making the site too slow to use. ### How Will CyberGrants Prevent Further Occurrences? We have reconfigured the resources which caused the application issues and expanding system monitoring. We are assessing all other critical components for performance risk, and making adjustments as needed.
