    Update: From 4:34pm CST to 4:44pm CST the web application experienced sluggish response times due to memory swapping on our API servers. The issue was resolved by decreasing the number of threads per web process.

    Update: It's now been over 15 hours with no reoccurrence so moving this issue to resolved. Traffic is notably lower during the weekend, so we will continue monitoring as peak traffic resumes next week.

    Update: After further investigation, we've identified the issue is being caused by latency in "Request Queuing" on the API web dynos. We've taken a number of steps to reduce the number of blocking slow requests including introducing additional timeouts both at the DB layer as well as on the web server. We've also instrumented additional monitoring to alert us and help us diagnose these types of issues faster in the future. We haven't seen any slowness in the past 4 hours, but will continue monitoring through peak usage next week.
