Description: ### **Dates:** Thursday October 26th 2023, 17:03 - 17:30 UTC ### **What happened:** For the duration of the incident, customers could not upload new files or list files/groups through the Web UI. Some users received an HTTP error code of 429 due to them being rate-limited. ### **Why it happened:** Customers began to have issues uploading assets to our storage service due to a high number of concurrent uploads. This spike in upload requests caused a delay in acquiring a backend connection for the storage service. ### **How we fixed it:** We recycled the storage service pods, which cleared the connectivity issue with our backend service. ### **What we are doing to prevent it from happening again:** We are looking at the following areas: * Determining how better to handle periods of increased load for our storage service. * Refining our alerting for our storage service to detect performance issues customers may experience when interacting with it.

Description: ### **Dates:** Monday October 23rd 2023, 10:21 - 15:12 UTC ### **What happened:** For the duration of the incident, customers running Live Tests experienced issues with device interactions. Device interaction issues were experienced in all regions and device types for customers with browser resolutions set to anything other than 100%. ### **Why it happened:** Customers could not interact with devices due to a bug in our Web UI that caused a scaling issue when displaying the canvas on a device. The scaling issue led to failures on the WebSocket that used to handle device interactions. The WebSocket failures ultimately led to the connection closing, leading to all device interactions no longer working. ### **How we fixed it:** We performed a rollback of our Web UI to the previously known working version. ### **What we are doing to prevent it from happening again:** After restoring service, we fixed the underlying bug that caused the scaling issues. We are also adding more thorough unit testing for this case.

Description: ### **Dates:** Friday October 20th 2023, 09:19 - 13:36 UTC ### **What happened:** For the duration of the incident, customers experienced errors when starting Live and Automated iOS Simulator sessions targeting “latest”, “current\_major”, and “previous\_major” simulator aliases in all regions. ### **Why it happened:** In order to bring early availability of iOS 17 testing to our customers, we deployed a release candidate of the iOS 17.0 Simulator. We released it with an alias of “rc” to avoid mapping it to the “current\_major” alias so customers wouldn’t accidentally start using it. This new mapping caused an issue with the service that orchestrates tests in our system. Due to this issue, customers running simulator tests with an alias had issues running their tests. Since most customers target specific iOS Simulator versions, there wasn’t a widespread impact. ### **How we fixed it:** The team rolled back the iOS 17.0.rc Simulator release, which resolved the issue. ### **What we are doing to prevent it from happening again:** We are working on a standard way to deploy iOS Simulator release candidates.

Description: ### **Dates:** Wednesday October 4th 2023, 11:00 - 12:01 UTC ### **What happened:** Customers may have experienced session creation errors when testing with Android Emulators in our EU-Central and US-West data centers. ### **Why it happened:** The issue was caused by deploying a component responsible for starting sessions in our virtual infrastructure. The code of the new component version contained an error that caused the session processing code to return an HTTP 500 \(internal server error\) message. ### **How we fixed it:** When we identified the change causing the issue, we immediately reverted to the previous stable component version. After that, we deployed that component with the latest version, containing a fix. ### **What we are doing to prevent it from happening again:** * We are adding better static code analysis to the given component, which should prevent errors similar to the one causing this incident. * We are improving test code coverage of that part of the component. * We are fine-tuning our alerts so they will alert us much quicker for similar scenarios \(too many HTTP 500 returned\).
