Description: Incident Summary: During a routine operation, a script in our legacy database initiated an action to back up a completed logical log. However, the onbar process unexpectedly terminated during this procedure. Preliminary indications suggest this disruption might be related to the server becoming unresponsive. Timeline of Events: [9:13:00] The server began to exhibit signs of reduced responsiveness. [09:22:35]: The script attempted to back up ".. This action resulted in an error with a return code of 146. [09:24:35]: A decision was made by our Software Engineer to restart the server to mitigate the issue. [09:28:24]: The server returned to its operational state, albeit with the specific log still awaiting backup. Findings: The script faced an unexpected disruption when backing up the completed logical log, causing the onbar process to halt. There's an indication this incident might be associated with a known bug on the current server the database uses. Fortunately, this is expected to be addressed in our upcoming software upgrade. Conclusion: The recent server disruption and the consequential process crash during a logical log backup operation are incidents of significance. Immediate intervention by our Software Engineer prevented prolonged downtime. Our imminent software upgrade addresses the underlying bug and fortifies our systems against such occurrences. Our continuous commitment is towards system robustness and ensuring uninterrupted services.
